Fall is here and I love to decorate my front porch with mums and pumpkins every year.  For the last 4 or 5 years, we have had some hungry squirrels move in the hood.  They have plowed  right through my thoughtfully placed fall décor, leaving a mess and pumpkin guts everywhere for years.

I have tried a few things to repel the squirrels, no luck.  Someone told me to use Irish Spring soap.  I used shavings of Irish Spring, didn’t work.  Even used whole bars of soap stuck in my fall décor.  Total carnage!

This year I’m taking evasive action!  It’s called Shellac! I have shellacked the crap out of the pumpkins this year.  Hopefully this will be the squirrel deterrent I have been looking for.

Also as a plus, it makes the pumpkins very shiny!

I will keep you posted if my plan for saving my fall décor works!  In the meantime, here are some pictures over the years of the squirrels destruction.

Happy Fall!
